Well I ran down to the Tidal Basin on Thursday and the cherry blossoms had still yet to bloom. Of course. I will try to do Tuesday’s run down there and hopefully they will have finally bloomed (and the tourists will have departed).
Anyways, I’m in Pittsburgh for the weekend so tomorrow morning’s run will be in North Park. Apparently there’s a five mile loop but it’s shared with a lot of cyclists. Maybe I will run that loop twice, once clockwise and once counterclockwise, to get my 10 mile training run in. The other option is to run the trails in the park, although I prefer grass to trails in my VFF Bikilas so I’ll just decide when I get there. I’ve also been told there’s a lot of people using the park for marathon training right now so it sounds like it will be busy. It’s expected to be a brisk 29 degrees at 8am – just when I was getting used to running in warmer 40-50 degree weather! Also, at the end of my run on Thursday I swung by CitySports and picked up a new ‘toy.’ This will be my first run with a hydration belt instead of my iPhone in one hand and a water bottle in the other so I’m excited to see how that goes.
i totally went today too expecting to see some photogenic cherry blossoms, but no such luck 🙁
